I have a 96 ext cab with a 305 (which does no different from the 350 mileage-wise near as I can tell), has like 110Kmi on it now, 4WD, minimal issues (except for deathcool rotted head gasket I replaced), still in good shape except for AC is not working. I really like the truck.

I think the 454 was mostly directed at those who would be towing larger loads and would show no particular benefit in general. If you can get it for a good price it would probably last near forever, so gas might not be a huge consideration given how far down it is on depreciation, ins costs, etc. and the engine is "bulletproof!"

Anybody know much about older Chevy Trucks? I found a 1995 3/4 2WD Extended
Cab with the 454. It has 123K miles on it and looks like it has 50,000. I
know the 454 has been around forever and is a solid engine. Usually something
with a 454 has probably been used for towing or some heavy duty work. This
truck looks like it has been babied. I know the gas mileage would be awful.
Maybe 12-13 mpg - on the highway. 10-11 in town? It's a 2wd so that probably
helps. I'm not sure why I would be interested in it, but I am.
