Even a 602 produces the same power as a 617, starts easier in the winter, uses less fuel and is so much more refined. I was talking with a guy about an early Blazer with a dead engine and thinking a 602 turned up a little might make a nice transplant... Curt

A 240D 3.0 with an OM603 is in some ways theoretically better than with an OM617.
