It's not that it gets flat. It gets to tasting really bad.
And it's even worse if it came over here in the summer and ended up being stored warm. It's like wine that way. Had some old beer stored too warm one time. That's something you never want to try again.

how old are they? when do they go out of date?
That is also an important part.
