Case in point. Back in 2014 I bought a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo. August of 2015 the timing belt broke on the *very* interference engine. Destroyed the head something fierce. Reputable mechanic wanted a couple arms and a leg just to look at it. Brother "knows a guy" that works almost exclusively on the Audi turbos. Quotes me a price sight unseen, I agree, he has car towed to shop.
*Today* I have just returned from lunch in my Beetle. New head and timing belt in place. Supposedly new turbo in place as well. Along with a replacement for a rusted steel intercooler hose. Already in need of a coil pack, running a little rough. Needs brakes. Parked it in a spot at work, got out ..... "I still love the look of this car." EdB P.S. Anyone knows anyone that wants a Turbo Beetle, I'll probably have one for sale very soon.
