I believe that to get to the HVAC PBU, only step (3) below is required, but you may also need to:
(1) remove the center console trim piece (with window switches and shifter surround) (2) remove the ashtray (two phillips head screws deep in there) (3) remove the two phillips head screws that hold the wood trim around the PBU, they are visible from below under the ledge.
