Like buying Bosch ignition points from the VW dealer or the Porsche dealer. Everybody knew, decades before the internet, that you wanted to cross reference the Porsche part number to the Bosch number and buy it from an independent parts store, or cross the Bosch number to a VW number and buy it from the VW dealer. Prices on the VW parts were often less than half the price of the Porsche parts, even if they came in yellow and red Bosch boxes from both dealers.
