I am now committed to the 06 E350 AWD. It appears to be maxed out
with options - lumbar adj, heated seats, c changer in trunk, Harmon
Karden Stereo, etc. And everything works! I found an owners manual on
the MB website (over 500 pages!) and as luck will have it, I found in my
"Library" of MB lit picked up over the years at the dealer - a large
format sales brochure for the 2006 E Class. I also have an 06 S Class
brochure i asked for in a moment of lusting for extreme luxury ;-)
All very interesting stuff as I like to gather as much research
material on my cars as possible. I plan to pick the car up Monday - the
owners is going to have the car detailed today and also get a fresh Va
State Inspection. The owner had a recent tuneup and has he receipt
which i will get. I guess the thing a gasser has going for it is all
the ignition components that used to require regular maint now last 100K
instead of 10 or 15K. Also had the 4 axles replaced.
One thing - the Battery light was on in the speedo - he said there are 2
batteries - one for the optional equip and another for the engine. The
light is on because he replaced the battery for the optional equipment
and the dealer needs to reset the "replace battery " light so it updates
the battery to the optional equip. I visualize it's like when the
battery is disconnected for a while and the radio must be reset.
Anyway, he's going to take care of it as well.
Hopefully by Monday afternoon my wife will have a newer car to go places.
Thanks for all the help guys - I hope to be walking without a walker
(at least I'm 100% out of the wheelchair) and driving a diesel MB again
one day soon.
