My take on Farm Supply oils.... Anyone priced a large diesel farm tractor lately... or a combine? or even a hay swather?.... Easily, you will be in the $200,000 to $600,000 price range...AND... oil change on large equipment involves Gallons of oil... not Quarts.... SO....
If I'm a farm supply store, and my farmer customer is buying Gallons of oil, to service his production farm equipment, I want to sell a product that will NOT FAIL his very expensive new tractor... Thus... chances are, it's cheap because it's bought and sold in large quantity, and it's good quality because it needs to be, because I don't want to have to buy a new motor for his tractor, plus crop loss while it's being fixed.
