THR FIRST BIG MAC

I remember when I first saw a Big Mac Hamburger. I think it was 1968. Boy Scouts got free admission to the rodeo for being ushers. I always worked as an usher, and therefore, got to see all the holly woodstars who came to the rodeo. I think 1968 was either Hoss and LIttle Joe from Bonanza or Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke. I know 1969 was Doug McClure of The Virginian. That autographed usher badge was the last one I threw out. It escaped when I pitched most of em. I suppose now it is worth $5.

McD was introducing the Big Mac at the first McD in the region, mentioned in the previous post. To get publicity, McD donated Big Macs to everyone working at the rodeo. I think I put 2 Big Macs down that day. To be fair, in those days, I think most of the hamburger was fresh ground at local grocery stores, and they really were not bad, they just had skimpy little patties. In the 70s, with the proliferation of shysters and the resulting fraudulent lawsuits, the McD corp, to protect itself had to start adding preservatives and standardize more and get meat from fewer plants. Anyhow, My first Big Macs were devoured on a sunny Saturday at the rodeo.

Shall we change the tone of this McD thread? - How about recall your
first McD visit? My first McD was a coupon for filet-o-fish so I rode
to Forest Park ~1963 on my ~1938 Chicago Schwinn that I still ride.
Parkey's hot dogs were also memorable for their fresh fries ($0.10)
served in brown paper bag all greasy salted yum. Also yum was A&P
Spanish Bar Cake markdown $0.10 - recipe for A&P Spanish Bar Cake is
online.
Carry on, guys - Roger has asked for a new tone for the McD thread?
... down memory lane? ... perhaps?
