I have suspected my power supply has been on the way out for a while. It
normally runs all the time and if it does get shut off sometimes it takes a
while to get it power back on. The fan in the power supply has died as has the
separate fan in the back of the case I added. Lately I have been getting blue
screen crashes every now and then. I really am not sure how old this system is
I built it myself. It’s running windows 7 and has a AMD Phenom 2.7 ghz
professor and 8gb ram. Other than the power supply issue it seems to be running
fine and is plenty past for anything I do on it. So I can replace the power
supply which I will do ASAP but this hard drive is not backed up which is not
good. I think I should get a new replacement and clone the drive over to a new
one, perhaps a SSD. It’s this or just buy a whole new tower either a prebuilt
one or build another one, or replace the motherboard too. Actually upon boot up
I see the bios is dated 2011, so it is at least that old.

I think what I will do is order a new power supply and HDD. If something later
on fails such as the motherboard I can upgrade it then. That is unless you
people thing I should just do it now. Have there been that many advancements in
motherboards and processors in the last 8 or so years?
