I think the TD has the rubber mounting bolts between the manifold and the air cleaner too, I recall doing something with them ages ago, but don't recall specifically.  I know they are on the turbo mounting bracket that regularly breaks.  I do have a bunch of them in a bag somewhere, they were cheap when I bought some for the SDs.

Don’t know about that..

As I recall, the bracket was mounted directly to the manifold and then there
were the rubber mounts in between the bracket and the air cleaner housing. On
the OM617s, that is. I have no knowledge of the 240Ds in this regard.

An aside - those little rubber standoffs are a generic MB part that is used in
a bunch of different applications. Like the windshield washer pump grommets,
it’s one that I keep a few spares if in the “drawer ‘o’ parts”.

Well turns out I was wrong! I haven’t worked on the TD in ages, it is a direct
mount to the manifold

Musta been too early...

Well now I am in a discussion regarding the air cleaner mounting bracket
(actually it had something to do with the little rubber mounting bolts), that
they ALL break at some point and some dude is telling me NA cars don’t have the
mounting bracket. I tell him far as I know all 617s have that, both turbo and
NA. Argument ensues.

Now he says butbutbut his 240D doesn’t have one. I don’t know what a 240 has
but that wasn’t the issue. Sigh...

Yup. The sad fact is, these guys are buying these cars at premium price points,
and expecting million mile maintenance free cars. They spent their formative
years in mom's basement playing videogames, with little or no inquisitive

20's, they are trying to get a clue. I don't mind helping, if they will listen.
