Fit a steel patch. Glue it in with Butyl Rubber sealant or body
sealer. Pop rivet it in. It'll last as long as the rest of the car.

Now we're talking! Nothing to fear but fire itself! Garden hose indeed.
Maybe I will clamp some aluminum bar down next to it for a heat sink.
Interestingly, I found lots of vids of body sheet metal repair on w123s,
usually the jack points and rocker panels. And lots of threads on battery
box area rust. But no threads or videos of anyone who has welded in metal
under the battery box. There are no patch panels for it from that place in
Denmark; presumably because it is pretty much flat. But they have tons of
panels for everything under the car.
I'm sorry but no matter what Uncle Ken says, "Miracle Paint" por 15 and
fiberglass are not your friends. It is just covering it up for awhile so
you don't have to look at it until it comes loose and starts leaking again,
and giving you time to learn to weld or find a weldor. Or sell the car. And
lining Ken's pockets.
Brazing occurs at lower temps than welding. Doesn't mean total heat input
is less, but it should, if the arc time is similar. Both capable of
starting fires of course.
Thanks for replies.
