There is a type of pop rivet that has sealant in them. I got some 1/4" ones 
that are designed for RV repair from a company that specializes in this: 
Vintage Trailer Supply. They call them Olympic Rivets.

How are pop rivets watertight again? I know they use them on canoes and

roundabouts, but all the one I know of are hollow.
