Sounds like a good deal if you can swap that other engine in it, pull all the good bits off the one that had the fire and knacker it.  Pull the top-end good parts off the locked engine too so you have spares.

Some work but seems like you might have a nice car out of it.

I picked up a 91 350SD today for $300.  Appears to be clean except for clear coat.  PO story was they were driving it and it ran fine when the stopped somewhere, back back out and it would not crank. They said they replaced the starter and that did not fix it.  They said it was using oil, but no telling how much. Engine is very clean, as in nearly spotless.  Did not appear to have any leaks. Anyway, he thought it hydro locked.  Car has been sitting about a year.  Looking at the car fax it appears to have been well maintained with regular visits to a local indy.  When I got it home I put a socket on the crank and it is locked solid, will not rotate in either direction.  I then pulled the valve cover to see if the timing chain may have broken or the cam sprocket or cam shaft, everything up top is intact. I am wondering if it has a severely bent rod then finally let go. If the story is to be believed I am not sure what would cause it to lock up at shutdown and then not turn over.

I have the 91 SDL that has the updated rod engine but the wiring under the fuse fire.  I have been debating on if I should try to repair that car or part it out.  I guess I will probably pull that engine and drop it in this car.

After looking at this car, it really looks like a car I had a deal to buy about 4 years ago for about $2k but the guy backed out. Said his mother said he had to sell it for more.  WTF?  I am not 100% sure it is the same car but the left side had some paint work done on it on the car I looked at 4 years ago with a slight paint line along the roof line edge.  This car has the same thing.
