It's possible the engine is fine but the starter is stuck.... They tend to lock up on those engines, had it happen to me, and it the Bendix is stuck too for some reason, it's immobile. Pull the starter and check. Also check the flywheel. Or a rod went, only way to check is to get the oil pan off or check for hydrolock. Usually, though, when the rods bend the cylinders go oval fast enough they won't hydro-lock for any length of time, the oil drains out past the rings. For it to be stuck both directions, though, you'd have to have a thrown rod or totally seized bearings. Believe it or not, some people don't seem to think knock and clanking are abnormal noises, my buddy Hans got a six cylinder in one that was "making some noise" -- #1 pison was in the pan in pieces, with the naked rod thrashing around in the empty cylinder. Horrendous noise. Owner "hadn't really noticed" anything..... _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
