I hauled a lot of construction materials (including 80BF of dirty rough sawn cherry) in my mint interior 1999 4matic. Interior was far from mint after I had it a month. Only real problems I ever had with that car were dead fuel pump (inline and easy to swap), rusty brake lines, and HVAC gremlins. But 124 4Matic is an entirely different can of worms.
