Do the normal testing on inner pivots.  If they are at all loose, it's easier 
to replace the control arm complete if you have a means of getting the 
alignment close enough to drive to an alignment shop.  Otherwise, replacing the 
inner bushings requires making a tool, they are swaged in place and can be a 
pain.

I've not replaced any of mine, even at 400k miles.  Ball joints usually last 
200k or so, give or take a bit, but that depends on driving conditions and the 
presence or absence of road salt.

You will need a good, not a cheap, ball joint tool.  The cheap one will 
bend.....
