However, what with needing to keep the oil cooler full, and the shorter time the oil stays in the pan, it will not cool off as much, and it will "wear out" faster -- that's why MB has huge oil pans. They need them for autobahn running....
My 4.5L takes 9.5 qt if you change the filter and drain the cooler.... Peter
