The renters themselves are fine. They have paid their rent on time for
the last 3 years and take care of the property. Never had any trouble
until this asshole moved in. Also, as you may know, medical marijuana
is legal here if you have a card and you are allowed to grown up to 6
plants per card holder for your personal use. They are growing their
pot in the garage which faces their house. I do not care as they are
legal. They have ultra violet lights in there and the new idiot
mentioned he could see the lights coming out of the garage and that he
is a member of a violent biker gang and he has people coming and going
all day and night doing drug deals. Total fabrication. I told the wife
next time she talks to the idiot ask him if he would rather have this
guy's pot plants growing in his garage, or 80 cars in the back yard
because when I was there I had the 80 cars and there was not a damn
thing anybody could do about it because I had them privacy fenced in.

Validation. For not keeping my old house and renting it out…even my lender

At the rental house a while back the renters had requested to get a load of gravel for
the driveway because they said it was muddy. They only asked for us to pay for half so I
agreed. The wife was over there today doing an inspection. As it turns out, last time I
was over there they were starting to build a house on the empty lot next door. Lot has
been empty for 15 years. On that side of our house is the driveway and garage and between
our lot and the lot next door is a drainage "ditch" so to speak that drains
from the back of the property to the street. This drainage area is mostly on our side of
the property line. We have the whole back side of the property privacy fenced and IIRC
we had the fence built a foot over on our side of the property line. Turns out this new
neighbor next door built a privacy fence of their own continuing at the front edge of
ours continuing toward the front of the property. They build this fence right in the
drainage area (it is not so much a ditch but a lowered to flow water). With their fence
built even with our fence, their fence is basically a foot into our property.
Now back to the gravel situation. It turns out the guy next door is having a
pool installed, and the mud the renter was referring to was actually all this
mud from their pool project flooding over and totally covering our driveway in
mud. It also filled in the drainage area with mud. Had I known this, I would
have gone after the guy next door to clean up his mess or pay for gravel.
The reason all this came to a head is because this neighbor somehow got the
wife's cell phone number and called her yesterday complaining about our renters
saying his dogs attacked him and his dog bla bla bla. He called the Sheriff
who came out to talk to our renter. Being that it is out in the country there
is nothing they can do. If the renter's dog gets out and supposedly threatens
somebody, they are free to shoot it. The new guy told all sorts of lies about
this situation. We talked to the deputy who came out there and that is when we
discovered all the lies this guy was saying.
Anyway, I need to have a conversation with this guy but first I think I may see
about having a survey done to make sure of where the property lines actually
are. When we first bought the place all the lots were staked off but this guy,
or somebody, evidentially removed them. Once I determine his fence is on my
property I suppose my next thing will be to demand he remove it. If he does
not, I will head over with the tractor and remove it for him.
By the way, this guy says he is a retired cop from Chicago. That explains it
all.
