How do you hook one of those up in your house?  That would be interesting.  So restaurants go out of business so they probably file bankruptcy on that business, then start a new business and buy their old equipment for pennies on the dollar?  That is the American way isn't?

Faster than that, like 1 min per rack. And the whole rack (usually plastic)
lifts out to carry the clean load to the shelves or pre-load for the next

requires a disinfectant. The hot water types are so hot that no additive is
needed but they put out a LOT of steam.

I think the only fast dishwashers today are commercial ones. My cousin is in
the restaurant biz and often attends the frequent going out of business
auctions. At one of these he bought a bunch of commercial dishwashers that
complete the cycle in 15-20 min. He has one in his home. I went along on one
of these trips and learned some interesting stuff, like that some of the stuff
was being purchased by the principals of the restaurants that went out of
business, going into a new business.

I think all dishwashers these days take that long or longer due to conservation
etc. We had a fairly recent Maytag that we bought 5 years ago they took 3-4
hours on the heavy duty cycle. The Bosch we have now takes a little under 3
hours on heavy duty.

On the subject of dishwashers, our beloved 2006 KithcenAid is acting
like it will give up the ghost any day soon. Makes an embarrassingly
loud noise during its cycle, although the dishes still emerge sparklingly clean.

Price on a comparable replacement KitchenAid has risen to $850 and up,
so I have been looking at Bosch, Samsung, GE and Whirlpool models with
a third rack that are in my price range.

Had a Bosch dw in the old house and it was very quiet but the cycle
took 2+ hours which is way too long. Don't know if they have solved
that problem by now. Samsung has the best features but I have heard some
bad things.

I've never had great luck with ice makers. Mostly they clog up and
stop working. The ice maker in my GE started leaking, ruined the
floor and stained the ceiling below before I noticed it. That was
about a year after the in-door water dispenser quit. Design flaw,
they routed the water line too close to the interior and it is prone to
freezing up.

I have one like that too. Bottom ice maker quit working, called
repair (I bought extended warranty from Lowes), guy came and changed
the filler tube, which froze and burst. some cheap plastic bit.
Bottom ice maker works when it wants to, has been working OK for the
last few months but doesn't put out like it should. I have to
occasionally reset it when it quits cycling. So far temps have been
OK. Repair guy told me that most new fridges are PsOS due to energy
savings issues, the motors run full out when they run, and they
cycle more often, which burns them out more frequently than the old
ones that were big and just ran.

Avoid Samsung refrigerators. They are piles of crap. We bought a
new expensive french door model back in around 2017. The reason we
went with this model was because it had an ice maker in the door
and one in the bottom freezer. At first everything was fine but
within a short time the top ice maker turned into a pile of junk.
It constantly freezes up with big chunks of ice and gets jammed.
90% of the time it does not work unless you thaw it out then it
will work for a day or 2 maybe. Bottom ice maker has always worked fine.

I am sitting here in my chair in the living room which is just
right behind the refrigerator on the other side of the wall (open
floor plan), heard some sort of different noise coming from the
kitchen. I did not think much about it. Just a few minutes ago I
got into the refrigerator and when you open the doors the temp of
the freezer and refrigerator display on the control panel. Freezer
was a 36 and refrigerator was at 58. Was fine when I went to bed last
night.
Compressor does not appear to be running. That strange noise I
heard earlier now that I think about it was probably the compressor
trying to run, or running but dying. Lucky I did just sign up for
that home service contract which I already have an appointment
Tuesday for the Bosch Dishwasher issue (drain pump). Guess I will
put in a service request for this too.
