Gang, it's worth a chuckle I know, but I think I overfilled my Saab's engine oil when I changed it this afternoon (guess I forgot it takes only four quarts? That's kinda nice - one fewer quart to buy). I think it's true that it's not too harmful to overfill the engine oil, but what think ye all? Brian, I would take the extra oil out. If the crank hits the oil it will aerate it just like cream turns to whipped cream. Except air is not a good lubricant and will not have the film strength to keep the crank and bearings separated. If you don't have a mitivac or oil removal unit, you can just shove a long piece of hose down the dipstick tube, put your thumb over the end and pull it back out. Depending on the size and length of the hose, it will take a few cycles. A little messy but better in your driveway than having your engine burp a big puddle of oil on the road.
