I was just thinking that if some fool offered me $300,000 for this place I'd
take it, move up north, buy the triple decker apartment next to my aunt's house
to live in while I worked on the farmhouse. I'd have enough profit to do a good
job, hire out some of the work even...

BIL/SIL 'downsized' recently. Their 6b/5b home in a gated community in
Gig Harbor, put on the market for 7 figures, sold in three days. With the
proceeds they bought a slightly smaller home nearby, for what I thought
was a choke-to-death price, and still had enough left over to put a kid or
two through college.
The housing market is simply nuts right now!
