I didn't watch the video, but in general the railroads are suffering the same problem as many other employers: lack of staff and difficulty hiring. Modern railroads run less scheduled trains and more "when the train is ready we go" ad-hoc. Engineers and conductors are living out of hotels, getting called with two hours notice that they are going halfway across the country. What used to be a predictable job with good pay is now much more unpredictable and experienced employees are quitting or retiring and telling their kids to pursue a different line of work. The railroads are probably hoping they can ride it out until fully autonomous trains are ready and approved, but there's more skill to keeping a mile-long train on the tracks while also making good time, not stalling on grades, not breaking couplers, and not wasting fuel than you might think. _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
