I’ll never get rid of my gas heat and stove.

That said, nothing modern seems to be built to last more than 10-15 years. I 
bet a new oil boiler would not last like your old one.

I think these appliance companies did some research and figured out that most 
people move every 10 years or less and they build the appliances accordingly.
