Mr. J-Hursty brings up a good point: "if i really liked the car, i'd do the heads and just consider it routine maintanence at this point. if i didn't like the car, i'd use it as an excuse to get another one."
I think we are spoiled in a way. We believe our cars will last and last and last by performing the normal "routine maintanence". Sometimes it's hard to think of doing heads, etc as routine maintanence because these things are so stinkin bullet-proof dependable if even slightly taken care of.
