On my '87 SDL, they turn on when the headlights are on, and you activate the windshield washer. - They only turn on when they might be needed - no special switch - totally transparent operation - good MB engineering!
Question: if you have them, how do you turn them on? I test drove one and looked like an idiot when I couldn't find the switch.
