Just so happens GW is in town (Kansas City) today. Hwy 169 was shut down. LAST time he was here, I did pass the motorcade on Hwy 71. Northbound was open (me and...MB CONTENT my 300SD were heading north). Southbound was closed for miles and miles and miles. Cops at every on ramp, and the entourage was unbelievable. I could not help but to recall reading Albert Speer's "Inside the Third Reich". Hitler rode in an open top Mercedes - be it his roadster or something beefier (G4) - whether on parade or driving through little villages. Hitler was so excited when he could take the autobahn becuase he would not get swarmed at every little village and have to stop and kiss babies...he could actually travel at a decent pace. He flew sometimes too, of course. Anyway, my point is that a shot was never fired. Hitler feared those close to him (good reason - von Stauffenberg, etc), but not being in public. Bush seems the opposite and I think the irony is incredible. CM
