Probably does not take much to "total" a vehicle these days. Cost of repair is crazy. My truck was broken into last week in front of my house in the night. The culprit drove a big screwdriver or something similar into the lock cylinder on the driver's door.The damage is mostly to the lock cylinder and the plastic door handle. Can't really tell if there will be damage to sheetmetal behind the handle but the adjuster assumed there will be some that needs to be attended to. The estimate is $875. I have a $300 deductible so I have to pay that since the vehicle was not stolen and they do not appear to have tried to steal it. It is considered vandalism. They did not take anything from the truck that I am aware of. I assume they were looking for money or perhaps the face plate from the aftermarket stereo which was not in the truck at the time.
