I can vouch to that as well. you have to remove the lower spring seat to gain access to the bolt securing it.
BTW replacing all the rubber/bushings/ball joints/tie rod ends etc makes the car handle SWEET... like a new barge :) -j. -------------- Original message -------------- From: Peter Frederick <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Very rarely the track rod (aka brake support rod) BEARING on the > control arm will go bad. It seems most Alaska residents get that itch from time to time. Probably the most important thing to remember is that you have to be prepared for Mother Nature. The winters can be very un-forgiving - experienced residents don't go out in their cars in winter without extra clothing, some food, fuel, a way to make heat (candles are OK), and a means of signaling for help. "Coasties" know the need for preparedness better than most when it comes to water, and PW Sound and the Gulf of Alaska can be very rough. But the way out of Valdez by road requires a drive into the interior, where the temperatures can get to -70 F in winter! (a good thing to consider is synthetic lubes in transmissions, differentials, besides engines.) When we were there in the early 70s, I saw one greenhorn from the lower 48 have problems with the first cold snap (-30F), where his 4 cylinder '60s Scout engine started, but didn't have enough power to turn the wheels as the diff had solid, frozen lube in it. But the scenery is beyond description and worth every moment we spent there. I hope they enjoy as much of it as they can get to - the Kenai, Denali, the interior, etc. Our entire family wanted to go back there, but economic realities and family concerns kept us from moving back. Its still #1 for us in the USA!
