I'm pretty sure that this engine would have to be repaired or replaced. I wonder if an inline 5 cyl NA diesel from an Audi 5000 could be squeeeeeezed in? It would decrease mileage a bit though. I could probably find a 1.6L 4 cyl NA diesel for a few hundred bucks (he has several extra engines, but no way to tell the condition of them).
