IMO, the whole Homeland Security operation has turned out to be a giant
boondoggle and waste of people and national resources. While the events of
9/11 were indeed tragic and an atrocity, our USA knee-jerk reaction has not
only been ineffective, it also amounts to giving the bad guys a "win", as we
no longer have a lot of the freedoms we had before that event.
And if anyone has traveled out of the country in the last year or so, take
note that we are now being charged a stiff "entry fee" in many countries, in
a blatant tit for tat response to what we have done to USA visitors. And
passports for all to visit Canada! The laws of un-intended consequences
should be reviewed by all in our capitol before they go on these crusades.
The loss of lives on that September day in 2001 is a small fraction of what
we lose every year on our highways, yet no one seems to care much about
that. When was the last time a teen driver was required to actually
demonstrate real driving ability to get a license??

If it wasn't so sad it would be hilarious. Perhaps they could make a

The CIA's training and arming of Bin Laden has a big smoking hole in the
ground in New York to show for it.
I have read rumours that the CIA doesn't want to find Osama because he
has
too much dirt on them, this probably stems from keeping "enemy

in legal limbo down there in Cuba.
This probably because they trained him and financed his efforts against
the
Russians in Afganistan so many years ago.
Soon after September 2001, public service announcements on USA television
told us "Do you want to finance international terrorism? If you buy
illegal
drugs, you probably already have". The very first time I saw it, I thought
"...If you pay federal taxes, you definitely already have".
I always wanted to record that PSA, overdub the soundtrack, burn it to
DVD,
and mail it to 500 TV stations to see how many of them put it on the air
w/o
watching it first.
