Try shorting across the big terminals of the solenoid with a big
screwdriver.

If that causes the starter to turn, short from the battery's big terminal
to the small terminal for the solenoid power. If the engine cranks, you
have bad wiring to the solenoid. If the engine does not crank, the
solenoid has problems.


When you say the battery's big terminal to the small terminal for the solenoid power, is the big terminal what I can see behind the coolant reservoir? It has a low gauge positive wire coming up to a block, and a direct connection to the starter ties to it. There is also another block on the shock tower that has wire leading to the starter. Are these the solenoid wires?
