>From my experience, your issue is more likely a worn out injector. They are just mechanical poppet valves & the spray pattern suffer badly at idle, where the least fuel flows.
In case you did not already know, the fuel distributor does not act like a diesel distributor, where pulses are sent to each cylinder. The injection system continuously sprays fuel through all injectors, even at idle. You can imagine the very slight spray pattern at idle.
