Ask yourself whether you need this car and it's potential problems? 
You've been around long enough to know the pitfalls of the 124, did ya 
check the rear side windows for rust? Does the A/C blow cold air? 
Basically I would suggest you offer him what you think it is worth and 
leave it at that, if you get it for 'your' price then well done and if 
someone else wants it more then bad luck.
However there is probably no better overall car than the 124 T and if 
you think having a seven seater with extra load capacity will improve 
your life then go for it.
Ideally I'd like a 201 as a town car and a 124T as a long distance 
highway cruiser/load lugger, I got a 201 but just need to find a T :-)
Anyway, your money, your decision.
Lastly you do know that the two way sunroofs are notorious for repair costs.
