Hi Peter,
OK - changed the brake light bulbs for new ones - coated them with contact 
lube - now the CC drops in &out.

So, next  I guess I need to look at the AMP solder joints?
Last I looked at the MB circuit boards the solder joints were pretty small.

But I'll try - better than spending $450  or more.  I prefer to buy
new electronics - haven't had good luck with used.

Who can check the servo?  How is it done?  MB dealer?
