Wife has one of the later ones with independent 4 wheel suspension, V6 and 4WD. It's great in the snow & ice. I can't even make a wheel spin - I tried! As soon as a wheel breaks loose, the ABS kicks in on that wheel only, transferring the torque to the other three.
As you can probably tell, we are "on road" Jeep people, which is why we prefer the Grand Cherokee. When I want to play off road, I borrow a friend's V8 powered XJ5.
