Growing up we had a family doctor. He was a really nice guy. Lived in the same town, had his office in town, made house calls! We paid him for services rendered. He did not harrass those who could not pay, because his kids went to school with us, he grew up with the parents he treated. His folks knew our folks.
When he got signed up with the insurance companies, he lost many patients because they did not have insurance and could no longer use his services. In a few years he decided to close shop because he could no longer serve the community with a clear conscience.
