contact patch not much different between wide and thin, in the grand
scheme.  Drive behind larger rims was to fit larger rotors.  Not that they
even stop a lot better, but they do stay in the desired heat range when
pushed, and so, fade less.  Like larger rims and tires, if the brakes are
too large, they never get up to proper temp and at times, don't work as well
as the smaller ones.  Same goes when you lower a car too much.  What's that
saying, too much of a good thing.  Funny what drives fashion.
