Unfortunatley the ABS light has come on again, the only thing that I can
do without going to a mechanic is to try and clean the rear rotor that
feeds information to the rear sensor.
As some of you might have read, cleaning the sensors made the light go
off for 50K's or so but it is now back again.
Perhaps there is a wonky connection on the the rear sensor and pulling
it out wiggled the wires enough to make it work but my other thought in
this regard is that the rotor in the diff has icky stuff all over it and
is not feeding a proper signal.
However this rotor is nicely hidden inside the diff and the hole is
about half an inch wide and two inches deep, which makes cleaning pretty
hard. Also because it comes out the side it is virtually impossible to
look inside the diff without special tools.
I could just spray in a heap of carby cleaner but I don't want to do
this unless I know it is safe to do. That stuff tends to eat rubber
seals for breakfast.
If anyone has any insights, let me know.
