Stealing one for "thrills" or a dare is one thing but an entire box of Mercedes hood ornaments shows me that they had a gross disrespect for other people's property. And I see no difference between this and a common thief. I should have prosecuted but I also blame the parents.
My "children" are 25 & 26. My youngest Son came home with a trunk full of mailboxes one day. First, I asked why I should not call the police since each mailbox represented a Fealony. Then I explained the consequences & explained that I would call the police if he did not make things right in the next couple of hours. I would have called the police and he got the "message".
