i don't think anything can overcome the damage the schools do nowadays. you
can't watch videos about rosa parks all day while being told that you and
everyone else is just the greatest and not come home warped. young people
are trained nowadays to be utterly mindless. in other words, they are too
stupid to figure out what it is exactly they are doing and brainwashing into
thinking it's all good.

between the media and education their minds are corrupted to the point of
uselessness. most parents will fail to inculcate values related to
decency. add to this the natural tendency of adolescents (and adolescence
today seems to extend until roughly the age of 30) to do stupid and
disturbing things, and it is nearly a lost cause.

about a year ago, a high school kid (and, it turns out, the step son of one
of our customers) is sitting behind the ex wife in teh turning lane. the ex
wife goes to turn. she is old and slow. she isn't going fast enough for
the lad, so he bumps her, nascar style. he thinks this is normal behavior,
not because he is bad, but he is just THAT stupid. and despite all the
videos, he probably doesn't really have his facts straight on rosa parks
either.

As he had money, i settled the matter by having him pay me a $1500 tribute.
now he will know that nascar is good on tv, but not the thing to do on the
street (which, btw, despite massive investment, the criminal justice would
not be able to teach him just as the schools, depsite their massive
investment in him, had been unable to do). while i cannot undo the damage
done by the public schools and television, i can at least do my little part
to educate those less fortunate between the ears than myself.
