Search on Hitachi's website for the manual on the disk. That will tell you
where the jumpers need to be.

Shut down the computer and boot into your BIOS screen. Look for two disks
listed, one of which may be the Hitachi. If both disks show up, your
jumpers are correct.

Before XP will allow you to use it, you need to format it and then tell
the system where to mount it. I've done it in the past, but I don't recall
the steps. As I recall, the information about the steps was hard to
locate.
