I did get a bluescreen, shortly after sending this message in fact.  

I'm hoping it was just bad luck, but there were also two
suminputa!=sumoutputs errors before that.  The good news is none of
the primes were shown composite.  

I discovered, however, that the plastic "hood" over the CPU came
loose, which I'm hoping was part of the problem.  

Also, those exponents in the hundreds of thousands of bits, being
*tiny*, probably sat mostly in the L2 cache, which *may* mean that I
don't have a real heat problem.  I'm now trial-factoring M1257787,
hopefully the machine will be running when I get back, which would
*really* be a good sign.
