I met with the realitor today to get pictures and have them draft up the lease
contract.
Will post some pics when I get back home.

I'm excited, can't wait to show you all the future home of the museum!

I am up to $465 of the amount needed.

Hope everyone is doing good!

Greg

Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Meteorite Museum update - call for help

Thanks for the interest, I am more then happy to answer questions and provide
information about this.

Yes I am using my collection to make up the bulk of the museums meteorites.
However, several have been kind enough to offer samples on loan for display and
there will be written agreements and the owners can pick them up, or ask for
them to be returned at any point they wish. Loans will remain under the owners
100% control, while displayed safe and secure at the museum.

Those that wish to donate samples to the museum and if it fails...
While that is not something I have been thinking about too much (trying to keep
positive) I have a basic plan in the case this was to happen.

1. I would first offer to return the sample to the donators.
2. If they did not want them back, I would give them to Appalachian State
University to go into the schools collection where they would have a very nice
permanent home.
3. I would keep the samples until another suitable location is found (up to the
person who donated the sample)

My collection is far from the largest or most impressive, but its something I
am proud of and rather then have it sit in my living room I would like to share
it with others. Thats the main thing that has driven me to do this, and the
hope that it does well and others will do one in their area. (something I am
more then willing to help and advise with)

I am having security and full insurance done - that covers a good portion of
risk. This is a learning project for me, its uncharted water and an uphill
challenge... Thats something I have known from the start. As much as I hope
this will do well, I do understand there is a chance for it to fail. That said,
I feel this is something that needs to be done, and I also understand there is
a good amount on the line. As long as I try my hardest and do what I feel is
right, I will be able to accept whatever the outcome of this happens to be.

As for an update... $365.00 of the $2600 has been raised so far.

I want to send many thanks out to the people that are helping to support this
vision...
Dave Gheesling, Greg Hupe, Ron Hartman, Jerry Armstrong, Ray Watts, Carl Wong,
Rex Scates, Eric Wichman, Mike Gilmer and others who have sent emails of
encouragement... THANK YOU!

Here are some of the NWA meteorites available for sale to help fund this:
The weight is from left to right. I am asking for best offers on these.

415g (very nice with massive "fault" that is fusion crusted inside the crack
and not weathered. Kinda of looks like a rubble pile.

8kg - AWESOME stone, shows just how deep these things can hit and sink into the
ground. I kept this uncleaned, it shows the depth line still.

I am also accepting offers on ebay items for purchase off of ebay. I do better
prices since ebay fees are not a factor.
