The only suggestion I can offer in a case like this is that you try to dig 
down into the install logfiles and see of you can get a better idea of 
exactly what the problem is.  

That said, you can burn a lot of time on things like this and sometimes there 
is just no good solution, so (assuming that it's easy for you to burn a copy 
of an older version now) it wouldn't be a bad idea to take John's implicit 
advice and just try an older version first.
