How old is this machine that you're trying to install on? Does it have a fairly old BIOS? Is the HD a larger upgrade from what was originally installed? I'm wondering if at this point in the installation it's trying to boot the Linux partition, and you've installed it too many cylinders away from the beginning or something. Maybe flashing a BIOS upgrade will help, or maybe you'll have to rearrange your partitions so that Linux is booting from within certain cylinder limits. Always something to consider...
