I am considering using Drupal to make an integrated site, versus a
semi-integrated mashup of SMF 2.0 (forum), osCommerce 2.3.1 (ecommerce),
and home-brew PHP code providing entry into the forum and store, as well
as some gallery/about_us/info_pages/etc.

Before you settle on osCommerce, make sure you find out how difficult it is to
skin it to alter the page appearance. Last we looked at a couple of years
ago, osCommerce had a hard-coded appearance that required patching the PHP
code to alter it, which was the reason why the Zen Cart project was started.
So at least check out Zen Cart also, as it might save you a lot of pain.

I understand that the new osC 2.3.1 is much improved in that department,
having replaced 2.2's table-driven layout with div/CSS layout.
