Try Lubuntu and Xubuntu. Your system could probably handle at least
some of the features in the newer distros.
Also try turning the crank, faster. LOL

A year or two??? HA, my home system is more like 7 years old, and
no budget to get anything else. I hope that's not a requirement
for OSes from this point out, otherwise I'll be going back to
quill pens and inkwells <g>.
