Video settings look normal. The login GUI Does - occasionally - appear
properly, I think if I simply power off and reboot when this happens, it
usually will come up properly, so I have to think GUI is probably there -
no idea what else I would check for that.

It also "behaves" as if the GUI is up, I am just not seeing it.
