There was a file listed in the NoNags site that purported to be a system
like that (you created a Linux networking floppy on one of your PCs, and
then bunged the floppy into a spare machine, that only needed the bare
minimum of peripherals).

Not that I can test this (no network cards, and no "floppy," just an
LS-120 drive, which fails with anything trying to do RAWRITE type of
bootdisk creation functions).  I can't even put Linux on this PC, it
doesn't like the motherboard and hard drive (ABIT BE6 & UDMA).  8-(
